Princess Nakaba is forced to marry the enemy nation's prince in an attempt to ease the tension. She moves into a palace, effectively becoming a hostage surrounded by prison gaurds. With only her attendant Loki, Nakaba must find a way to cope with her hostile surroudings and the manifestation of a mysterious new power

This series has a special place in my heart and I will always love it. Looking back on it now, the art does leave something to be desired, but as a debut work for Rei Toma, it is well paced and the characters are cute.

The first print of the second volume accidentally ommitted Loki's tattoo under his eye. Toma speaks about the mistake in the following volumes as a silly mistake that wasn't caught until the audiance pointed it out. Despite the three years between the Japanese and English release, the first print of the English version of this volume does not have his tattoo on the cover.

While researching this manga, I did discover that Ceaser's original character was rewritten due to the Japanese public disliking him. His development seems a bit rushed, but I think that's becuase there was a limit to how long the manga was allowed to be.

I have fond memories of taking these volumes to school and lending them to friends. The budding excitement when it came to a new media to share with friends was a constant when I read this, and this series added romance to our otherwise shonen taste at the time. The story was simple but cute, allowing it to be easily understood by middle schoolers (ie us at the time) but with enough nuance to make it interesting.
